We love dogs. We try are best not to inundate our visitors with dogs in need of homes, but from time to time we get requests from our neighbors, dog lovers and clients who want to post information about a found or lost dog that needs to find its owner or a new home. Please do not come to The Mutt Hutt as a rescue source - there are organizations that specialize in placing dogs in good homes and we can help you find them. We have listed lists shelters we know of in Northeast Ohio. We can post flyers in our lobby and always feel free to ask us if there is a dog who is looking for a home. If you are fostering a dog we are happy to list them on Pet Finder to try and find the pet a permanent home.

"Bode"
Bode is special because he only has 3 legs! His original owners adopted him from a shelter as a young pup and raised him. The family is being deployed overseas to serve our country so Bode needs to find somewhere else to live. We took him into our cage-free environment and are giving him all the love he needs. He knows basic commands, he's housetrained and has a wonderful disposition. He does sleep on his own couch but could probably be trained to sleep on a dog bed. His birthday was December 2005. He comes with a license for Cuyahoga County for 2008. He can be microchipped upon adoption for $20.

Notes from his past owners:
I had an accident when I was 3 months old and my leg was stepped on. That caused my leg to start turning out as it grew. I had to have surgery to fix the problem and the surgeon felt strongly that removing my leg was the best way to go instead of surgery. I am very strong and its hard to believe I only have 3 legs because I get along fine. I am a high energy dog and I need to be walked at least once a day or exercised in the yard. I do need to be careful that I don't over do it though because sometimes my leg gets sore. I am completely potty trained. Usually I am let out several times a day. If I need to go I will sit by the designated door and whine if you don't notice me. I am generally placed on a leash when I go to the bathroom. I am a good listener. I understand sit, stay, go to your cage, here, nice, drop, focus, "ok" when I am allowed to eat something you are giving me outside of my normal dog food bowl, and my very favorite words are "kisses" and "treat". I also understand when I have done something bad and I will give you my best sad puppy eyes. I don't have many bad habits. I don't get on furniture or beds with the exception of my couch. Otherwise, I just like to be where you are and I will lie on the floor next to your feed. I don't chew things but my old family used to keep toys and bones for dogs around for me. I have a tendency to jump on people when they come through the door because I am excited. My family was working on commands to stop me. I have a cage and my family cages me when they are not at home. They have done this since I was little so I feel good in there.

We are not a traditional shelter and appointments must be made to see our adoptable pets. Please call 216-621-6888 or send us an email.

"Peaches"

Peaches was abandoned on the streets of Cleveland and rescued by a caring human. She was in really bad shape, ribs showing and a major skin condition that is being treated. Here medical care is by Dr. Liz at Gateway Animal Clinic in Tremont. We are fostering her until she is ready for adoption. We think she is a mix of a French Bull Dog and Pit Bull Terrier. She is not going to be very big, probably under 30 pounds.

Peaches is a friendly pup, she is working on house-training and isn't doing too bad. She is eating like a horse to gain the necessary weight she needs to put on before she finds her forever home. Peaches is about 6 months old and gets along great with all dogs and cats. She is up to date on shots and will be spayed prior to her adoption. She is all white with a few gray spots.

We are currently taking applications and would love for you to meet this sweet and helpless pup that just needs love and a safe home. We are not a traditional shelter and appointments must be made to see our adoptable pets. Please call 216-621-6888 or send us an email.

Adoption Fee: $150 - 100% tax-deductible contribution to Project Noah

"Phoenix"

***ADOPTED: APRIL 2008***

Phoenix is an older Cocker Spaniel that just isn't getting the attention from her Mommy she used to due to a schedule change and constant traveling. Currently, she is staying at home while we help to find her a place to live permanently. She is housebroken, crate trained and very friendly. She is deaf. She gets along with other dogs and we'd prefer placing her in a home with another dog or someone who is home all the time and can take good care of her.

We are not a traditional shelter and appointments must be made to see our adoptable pets. Please call 216-621-6888 or send us an email.

Adoption Fee: Negotiable

"Sam"

***ADOPTED: APRIL 2008***

Sam is a family dog and he loves people. He was surrendered due to a divorce...he lost his Pug brother, Mom, Dad and home. He gets long well with babies, small children, adults, cats, dogs and even ducks. We can't say enough about this more than mellow Doberman. He knows basic commands, is great on leashed walks, doesn't jump up or misbehave at all. He is up to date on all of his shots and he is neutered. He does have some fatty lumps which is typical for older Dobes...nothing to worry about, just cosmetics.

We are not a typical shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-621-6888 or email rescue@themutthutt.com to set up a time. We are closed on Sunday's.

"Trixie"

ADOPTION PENDING

Trixie is a product of dog-dumping and came to our door step seeking shelter. She is about 6-8 months old and doing great adjusting to a cage-free life with furry friends surrounding her. She loves to snuggle and will need a sweater this winter to keep her short coat warm. Trixie will be up to date on shots at the time of her adoption date. She is spayed and ready for a new home with love.

If you can help a puppy in need please call 216-621-6888. We only show our dogs by appointment M-F 9-4, Saturday 9-1 and other times with prior notice. We are not a traditional kennel and our dogs are socialized in a cage-free daycare environment to give you the best pet available!

Adoption fee: $150 - All proceeds are tax-deductible for Project Noah

RESCUE NETWORK - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
The following dogs are being fostered or cared through another rescue organization.

"Willow Jean "

Willow Jean, a beautiful 8-9-year-old Golden Retriever mix, was found stray by Becca about a month ago on the cold, rainy streets of Cleveland. She is friendly and eager to play with the other dogs she meets, but she also loves some couch and cuddle time. Willow Jean is a medium-sized dog, weighing about 35 pounds. She is healthy and happy, just waiting for that special home to call her own. She id wonderfully in daycare and gets along with all dogs. She was transferred to the City Kennel in hopes of being reunited with her owner but they never came to claim her. Quickly, she was scooped up by the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs and is now being fostered.

If you are willing to show Willow Jean what it is like to have a loving, warm, happy home, she will repay you over and over with her unconditional love and devotion. For more information on adopting Willow Jean, please contact the Sanctuary For Senior Dogs and ask for Willow Jean!

"Crystal"
Crystal is one of 14 dogs abandoned in a house (some of which later died due to malnutrition and disease), Crystal has come a long way in five months! Everyone who meets her thinks she's the sweetest dog they've ever met. When she's not winning friends and influencing people, she's playing or snuggling with the other dogs in her foster home, or hanging out with her foster mom. Crystal is approximately 2 years of age and weighs 50 pounds; her coloring is an unusual fawn/blue mixture with white. She loves other dogs and people and is not aggressive toward cats (though she is curious about them). She currently lives with 5 dogs and two cats and they all love her. She is very mellow, listens well, is learning to sit/stay and walks well on a leash. She knows basic commands like sit and down, is housebroken and crate trained, is up-to-date on vaccinations, and is spayed and microchipped. Her nub never stops wagging, because she's so happy to be alive and healthy and around people and dogs who love her!

For more information about Crystal, contact her foster mom, Sandy, at (216)375-0484 or Shana at the adoption agency, For the Love of Pits, at (216) 214-1149 or email: Shana@fortheloveofpits.org.

"Rocky"

This is Rocky and he needs a home. One of our Pack Leaders recently had her third child and the new baby is allergic to Rocky's fur. Believe me, the entire family are animal lovers and never expected they would have to re-home their cat. Rocky is super friendly with kids and will make a great family pet. He is currently staying with his family but needs a permanent new home ASAP. He gets along with dogs. Please call 216-621-6888 and ask for Angie. Rocky is up to date on shots and neutered. We'd appreciate a donation to Project Noah for his adoption fee.

For more information please call Angie on Saturday between 8-1, Monday between 1-3 and Thursday between 2-7. You can also reach Angie via email.
