In dog we trust.

We are honored to be a part of so many dogs lives. We have over five decades of combined experience working with dogs at The Mutt Hutt. We have managed different dogs from all backgrounds, breed types, personalities and age groups and will always put what's in the best interest of the dogs we care for ahead of our clients needs. We have an enormous amount of pride choosing the work we do.  We work together as a small team with individuals devoted to dogs while maintaining a healthy life-work balance making time for hobbies, outside passions and creative outlets.

Becca Riker: Founder, Owner, Dog Handler, Operations and Marketing
As far back as I can remember I shared a home with many dogs - usually at least three at a time since childhood - which has carried into my adult life. I am grateful and appreciative of my parents for  providing me with the gift of empathy to care for animals as this certainly drives my compassion to fulfill and be successful with the dream of working with animals. I have shared a home with a lot of dogs (and I do mean: a lot of dogs). Just as they have been there for me I have been there for each of them shaping me to be a more confident, patient and empathetic human being. With the passion for spending my days with dogs, a goal to be an active member of my community and the drive to be small business owner The Mutt Hutt was established in 2005.  Within two years I became the founder of and continue to operate, along side many dedicated volunteers, the 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue organization Secondhand Mutts.

Jon Mohan: Partner, Dog Handler, Operations Manager
Born in the Youngstown area then relocated as a youngster to Omaha to then settle in Des Moines before returning to Ohio as a young adult one thing that was always a constant in my revolving life was dogs. After fulfilling my role working for the Obama campaign my instinctual next move was to work with dogs in some capacity which lead me to The Mutt Hutt. I began my journey of working in a room full of dogs in 2011 and never looked back. Along the way I befriended and adopted my co-pilot Moon from Secondhand Mutts with whom I was lucky to work with until her passing in February 2025.

Becca and Jon are surrounded by a herd of paws and hooves in an urban farmhouse oasis in the Tremont neighborhood. Over the years the couple has shared their home with a revolving door of all rescued animals. They share a love for all breeds but have a special place in their hearts for the often misunderstood breeds Doberman Pinscher and Pitbull Terrier.

Get ready because your dog is about to cheat on you! We are all dog owners who truly care about each dog that walks through our doors as if they were our own. We care for each dog treating each as the individual they are. One of many joys of working at The Mutt Hutt is the shared passion for working with the Secondhand Mutt rescue dogs. Together with the dog community and volunteers we provide and assist with nurturing, socialization, structure and stability.

Sara

Sara has lived in Ohio for most of her life, and moved first to Lakewood and then Cleveland in her early 20s. She’s always been around dogs; her grandma was a true blue animal lover, her grandpa always had a pair of Doberman Pinschers, and she grew up alongside her childhood dog, Ginger.  These days she’s kept entertained with her two rescue dogs, Idgie and Seymour, both terrier mixes who were adopted from Friendship Animal Protective League in Elyria.

Imogen

Imogen’s love for dogs began with their grandma's Great Pyrenees, Christie, who instilled a dedication toward and appreciation for dogs that was further solidified by growing up with a rescued Chihuahua mix and a Pekingese Shih-Tzu mix. After growing up in Massachusetts and living in Chicago and Austin, Imogen and their partner relocated to Ohio in the midst of the pandemic, finding comfort and companionship alongside Frankie, their rescue Corgie mixed breed dog. Frankie made her social debut at The Mutt Hutt two years prior to Imogen who joined the pack in 2023.  Within two years Imogen adopted a three month old Doberman Pinscher from Secondhand Mutts she named Judy.

When not surrounding themselves with dogs, Imogen cultivates a multidisciplinary art practice spanning film photography, songwriting, and creative writing.
