Collectively our staff has over 50 years of combined experience working at The Mutt Hutt. We have managed different dogs from all backgrounds, breed types, personalities and age groups and will always put what's in the best interest of the dogs we care for ahead of our clients needs. We have an enormous amount of pride choosing the work we do as a lifestyle working a small team with individuals devoted to dogs while managing a life-work balance around our other passions and creative outlets outside of our work. The Mutt Hutt’s focus will always remain on the dogs not revenue. We understand this lifestyle business model is certainly not typical for the industry. We anticipate your acceptance of our philosophy and model even when these circumstances may cause you an inconvenience.
On behalf of everyone at The Mutt Hutt w are extremely honored to be a part of so many dogs lives. Working with dogs and a great group of dog-people has always been a goal I've been driven to achieve. As far back as I can remember I shared a home and my bed with many dogs - usually at least 3 at a time since childhood - which carried over into my adult life. I am grateful and appreciative of my parents for providing me with the gift of empathy to care for animals as this certainly drives my compassion to fulfill and be successful with the dream of working with animals. I have shared a home with a lot of dogs (and I do mean: a lot of dogs). Just as they have been there for me I have been there for each of them shaping me to be a more confident, patient and empathetic human being. Being a dog lover, dog owner, a drive for small business I have made dogs a huge part of my life including being the founder of the nonprofit animal rescue Secondhand Mutts.
Along the journey of all-things-dogs fate was on our side when I unbenouced to either of us Jon started working at The Mutt Hutt and after many, many years working together a relationship blossomed into being best friends and partners. We have been working together for over a decade sharing our passion and love of dogs. When we are away from work you'll find us surrounded by our own herd in a restored urban farmhouse in Tremont whom we share with our beloved revolving door of rescue animals. Our "kids" at home are Moon (Pitbull Terrier), Carlos (Doberman Pinscher), Possum (Chihuahua), Rajai Davis (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix), Maple Fluffhead (Newfoundland), Nittany Lion (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix), the best deaf cat ever Bowie and a lazy potbellied pig named Dr. Fuzz. It's a full house!

Dave has been wrangling mutts with us since 2014. Pictured with Paxis, Willa and Birdie ImogenAn Austin, Texas transplant Imogen relocated to Cleveland in the midst of the pandemic, finding comfort and companionship alongside their dog and partner. Imogen's dog Frankie – a curious, rescued Collie mixed breed – started coming to The Mutt Hutt in October 2021 and provided our first introduction to Imogen. In April 2024 they welcomed Judy, a puppy Doberman Pinscher, adopted from Secondhand Mutts.
Imogen's love for dogs began as a toddler, taking naps with and spending time with their grandma's Great Pyrenees. Their love of dogs was further solidified by growing up with a rescued Chihuahua mix. When applying for the position with us, Imogen shared, "I feel at home with dogs, like I can understand them and work alongside them with almost no effort or difficulty.” While our relationship began with Frankie, it's Imogen's intuitive recognition and valuable ability to build relationships with dogs and the desire to work with us that made this an easy fit. Like many Mutt Hutt employees, Imogen is creative! While in Texas, JB's musical talent was showcased as a member of the bands Sasha and the Valentines and Spirit Ghost, while they worked as a barista at a local coffee shop. When Imogen moved north, they continued working in the music and service industries, joining the staff at the Happy Dog and volunteering for some local nonprofit groups. When not surrounding themselves with dogs, Imogen enjoys film photography, playing violin, being near water, and traveling. Imogen joined the team in 2023 Pictured with Plinko, Frankie and Fang |
